I know my focus is supposed to be about urban renewal but that could get boring. A couple of weeks ago Sue and I sat down to watch a movie and started to hear some drumming going on over on 2nd Avenue. It started out randomly and then picked up speed and you could tell this guy was really good. It wasn't some street artists pounding on plastic buckets, but sounded like real musical instruments. Then there was another drum and finally a whole band joined in and they were very good. I didn't think much about until we were sitting on our deck after Dally in the Alley and a friend mentioned this Detroit Party Marching Band and how they just show up at different events and take over the stage! As we were sitting there drinking our beers we suddenly here the sound of drums over on 2nd Avenue again. I grabbed my camera and ran over there and asked if they were the Detroit Party Marching Band and one guy said yes and another said no. They were crazy! I heard later that they marched dow...

Slow's to Go

  Slows To Go finally unveiled their new picnic tables outside the restaurant. They are very beautiful and HUGE as you can see. Probably created by some local woodworker. There are two of them. Come and check them out. And if you do stop by and say hi. I live one block west.

I just heard that the building that you see below that was recently demolished on Cass is going to be a 56,000 sq. ft. residential and commercial building called the Auburn. It is just north of Slow's To Go which is at the corner of Alexandrine and Cass.
